Hi! I’m Maya Krampf (pronounced Krahm-pf!), the founder of Wholesome Yum. I create easy healthy recipes that the whole family will love, as well as gluten-free keto recipes — all with 10 ingredients or less.
In addition to creating content for this website, I’m the author of two cookbooks, the Easy Keto Cookbook and Easy Keto Carboholics’ Cookbook.
I’m also the founder of the Wholesome Yum app (offering custom meal plans, macro tracking, and automatic grocery lists) and Wholesome Yum Foods, bringing you natural sugar-free ingredients.
You can learn more about me on this page, as well as at MayaKrampf.Com. I can’t say enough how excited I am that you’re here!

About Maya
When I was 5 years old, my parents came to the United States from Russia as refugees, chasing the American dream. They brought only a few hundred dollars, a couple of suitcases, and very little English. I am constantly grateful to be here.
In the late 90s, I fell in love with the Internet. I started creating content online when I was 13; back then, I had an email magazine for teens. Later, I got a degree in computer science and became a senior software engineer. (It may be less known, but software engineering is as much an art as a science!) I also studied nutrition in college — one course away from a nutrition minor — and have read countless books and studies on nutrition over the years.
I grew up eating my mom’s and grandmas’ home-cooked, real food meals with simple ingredients. But, I wasn’t always into cooking. I spent my college years eating frozen pizza, stir fry mixes, and food I brought home from my waitressing jobs. In my mid-twenties, on a quest to focus more on my health, I dove into the Internet to learn to cook. Being both a scientist and a creative at heart, I discovered how much I love that cooking allows me to combine both.
Today, I live in Minnesota with my husband, Oleg, and two little girls. Work and family keep me busy, but I also adore traveling. My recipes are inspired by my upbringing, my friends and family, my travels, and requests from readers.

About Wholesome Yum
I’ve been experimenting with healthy and low carb recipes since 2010. In 2015, I started Wholesome Yum so that I could have a place to document them. It has been my passion ever since. (Why did I wait so long?)
Running a blog is hard work and constantly evolving, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love that it’s a hybrid of business and creativity, that I get to wear so many hats in doing this, and that I have a wonderful team to support me. In March 2018, I made the difficult decision to leave my software day job and jumped in to run Wholesome Yum full-time.
The most rewarding part of this job is helping others. I am grateful, humbled, and excited that millions of readers are viewing it each month (the highest month to date is 10 million). My goal is to make Wholesome Yum a trusted resource for both healthy recipes and keto recipes that just work and taste delicious.
Wholesome Yum has been featured in USA Today, Fitness, Country Living, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, and Woman’s World; on NBC News, MSN, and Google News; and more.

Food Philosophy
Healthy eating doesn’t have to be boring or time-consuming. My recipes are:
- Healthy
- Mostly low carb
- Gluten-free and natural
- 10 ingredients or less
- Easy to make
- Well tested, over and over
I have followed a low carb lifestyle for over a decade, as this is how I feel best. I have been keto for a lot of that time (you can learn about starting keto here), but currently follow a more flexible, moderately low carb approach.
I strongly believe you should eat what makes YOU feel best. I make other real food, healthy recipes (that might not be low carb) for my kids, friends, family, and occasionally myself, so you may see those here as well. Plus, many of my recipes are simple basics for anyone wanting to eat better — no special diet required.
Almost any dish can be converted into a healthier version and I enjoy the challenge of doing so. And no matter your way of eating, we could all use more vegetables, healthy fats, and unprocessed proteins.

About Wholesome Yum Foods
After years of low carb cooking, I was unsatisfied with the taste, quality, and nutrition of several ingredients I often used. Plus, many readers asked me to make my recipes available for purchase, or for better, natural ingredient options.
So, I developed my own line of natural zero sugar ingredients, which launched in 2020.
Today, we have our own line of Besti sweeteners (the only brand that tastes, bakes, browns, and dissolves just like sugar does, with zero net carbs and no aftertaste!) and Wholesome Yum zero sugar maple syrup, honey, flours, keto baking mixes, coffee syrups, and more.

In 2018, people started asking me for keto meal plans using my recipes. I created printable PDF versions at first, but then I got requests for customizations — and that’s when the idea for an app was born. It took over a year to build, but we released it in 2020 (big year for so many reasons!).
The Wholesome Yum app will create custom keto meal plans for you (that you can adjust to your liking!), build your grocery list, track your macros, provide over 1000 recipes (that you can even scale and customize), give you ways to use leftovers and meal prep, and more.

Meet Our Team
Wholesome Yum began with Maya as a one-woman operation, from the recipe creation and photography to writing and social media. Today, we have a small team of seven — and we wouldn’t be where we are today without their creativity, expertise, and passion. Thank you for supporting our small, family-owned business and team!

Maya
Maya is the Founder, voice, creator, editor, photographer, and direction-setter at Wholesome Yum. She develops healthy and keto recipes, as well as the food product formulas for Wholesome Yum Foods. As a former software engineer, Maya also co-manages our mobile app and web development teams, designs our website, and knows just enough about our website code to get herself into trouble at times. She lives in Minnesota with her husband, Oleg, and two daughters. Her favorite things ever are travel, coffee, family time, and warm, sunny days — which she doesn’t get much of in her home state.

Oleg
Oleg is Maya’s husband and Chief Operations Officer at Wholesome Yum. Oleg doesn’t know how to cook or how to blog, so instead he’s responsible for just a few other things to keep Wholesome Yum humming smoothly: Things like running our websites, co-managing our web and app development teams, and keeping track of our finances. He also brainstorms ideas and business strategy with Maya. When he’s not spending time on work or family, which is 110% of his waking hours, he likes to take his car to the occasional race track.

Amanda
Amanda is the Digital Marketing & Partnerships Manager at Wholesome Yum. She manages our team for content, marketing, and social media, and brainstorms and implements marketing strategies with Maya. She also coordinates partnerships with brands and works with affiliates for Wholesome Yum Foods. When she’s not editing recipe posts, keto guides, and ebooks or writing endless emails, you’ll most likely find her camping in a rooftop tent near her home in northern California with her family.

Lesley
Lesley is the Ops Leader at Wholesome Yum. She manages contractors and the customer service team, acts as project manager for our app development team, and is the rockstar organizer that makes sure all the t’s get crossed and i’s get dotted on projects. Lesley has been keto off and on for the last 5 years. She lives in Alabama with her husband and 3 kids, and loves to read in her spare time.

Devyn
Devyn is a Community Manager at Wholesome Yum. You can find her responding to recipe questions, helping readers in our keto support group, creating web stories, designing keto meal plans in our mobile app, and posting on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Devyn has been following keto since early 2018 with great success! Devyn lives in Pennsylvania with her husband. She has a background in sports management and loves attending live sporting events.

Ashley
Ashley is a Writer at Wholesome Yum. She is the one keeping content humming along. As a master multi-tasker, she balances her work with motherhood, and literally runs on coffee. When she’s not writing, you can find her reading a good book, cooking delicious dinners, or spending time with her family.

Kelley
Kelley is a Customer Happiness Specialist at Wholesome Yum. She answers emails daily and helps with questions about our recipes, our mobile app, and Wholesome Yum Foods. She is mom to 4 kids, 3 dogs, 6 cats, and a barnyard of animals. She runs on coffee, her favorite being black coffee sweetened with Wholesome Yum Vanilla Coffee Syrup and heavy cream. When she’s not working, you can find her in the kitchen cooking or watching baseball.

Jade
Jade is a Customer Happiness Specialist at Wholesome Yum. She has more than 15 years of experience in customer service and answers emails daily. Incidentally, she started the low carb life in 2019, after years of struggling with her weight. It didn’t take long for her to realize that it was something that she could turn into a lifestyle, especially after seeing promising results. In her spare time, she does cross-stitch and collects miniatures.
